Bring the whole family to Killhope, the North of England Lead Mining Museum in the heart of the beautiful North Pennines. Killhope offers a unique but enjoyable opportunity to experience the life of lead mining families. Killhope is a hands-on place, on the surface children (and adults too!) can be washerboys - dressing up in Victorian style clothes, use primitive tools to find lead ore. Join one of our friendly and knowledgeable staff on a guided tour of Park Level Mine. Kitted up with wellingtons, hardhat and lamp you can get an idea of working underground. See the North of England's largest working water wheel, meander through quiet woodland walks and see Red Squirrels or do the Sam Squirrel Trail.
